you could find this topic in the game, there is a help (points overview) explaining how you earn points.
Basically each building has a point value at a given lvl. More buildings and higher lvl buildings will give you more points.
For example, lvl 1 lumermill is 12 points, while lvl20 same building is 546 points. It is the same point for quarry and ironmine.
