Add a scholar to your attack to lower the citizens loyalty. At zero loyalty the citizens revolt, killing the current leader and electing your scholar as the new leader.
Scholars must be protected by troops, a evenly matched battle may get the scholar in the skirmish. More than half your troops must survive, or the scholar dies.
Scholars are built at the academy, and more scholars are unlocked as you purchases more and more scholarships.
