It sounds like you need an admin to take a look at your account from the support team.
The basic steps for remedying the various problems that can occur have been completed.

The next course of action is that you should contact the support team via the in game support function.
Go to Portal > ? (Question mark icon) > Support > Click on the mail icon on the bottom right of the screen

Remember to reference the cities, troop types and specifically the "level 0" research item.
The reason i suggest using this method is that it will give the support team your unique id to help find the problem quicker.

I've encountered a recurrent bug with research, first in the Forge (Berserker) then in the stables (Knight). Each time my resources are accepted but the research doesn't start. Instead it shows as "level0" but also "maximum level reached". First time round I searched the forums and followed advice (see "Gaurdian [sic] bug" thread) to shut down and restart my phone, which worked. Second time round this hasn't worked, so I've lost loads of resources and cannot produce knights. Infuriating! Please fix this for me. Thanks.

UPDATE: 4th time restarting phone and research ticker now working thankfully. Bug still needs sorting so we don't have to do this with every new troop type though, please.
