I've had the same thing.

If I've already defeated the Barb city and killed everyone, how can it still have wall defence ? Very strange.

I think it's more a case that some of my troops decided to go awol, lol !

I've had a few cases where I had attacked barbarian cities, and no troops were sent out in defense, but I still lost 2 or 3 of my troops.. How does this happen?
