It is worse than that. If its an active player's city that has at least one scout - your action will be detected as hostile, and open you to his retaliation - possibly NOT with scouts. One can lose a lot on an "innocent" attempt to peek.

Cool thank you much.

Is it better to attack farther cities?
I read that some ppl said they conquer a far city first, why? Just so your closer to more cities?

@ storm you will be ok. If it is a 2k barbarian city there will be no troops. The only case there will be troops is if it was a player that quit the world

What if a barbarian city is like 2k, how many scouts should I send?

I'm pretty worried that I just sent all my troops to their death, n kinda irritated that the game doesnt explain more. I had no idea I needed more scouts than the city.

My 5 scouts didnt detect any troops in the city, and came back alive... Does this mean I will ok??

It depends on the city. If it is an Barbarian City "a" scout should do it. if it is an active player city, going to need to use judgment on how many scouts you send. because that city could have 100 scouts or up to 1k+.

if you want details on what is in the city, send several scouts if its a barbarian city. If its a player, send a lot more to make sure you get info back to you. Your scouts will die if you send less scouts than what the other person may have.
