Thanks for the replies. I am aware of the above. You can see the differences in the simulator. I was hoping to see if someone have the intimate knowledge of the calculation. Because it's not readily apparent to me.

It is an algorithm based on % your total attack and there total defense is taken into play. If you are to lose 10%

Don’t forget that a wall not only provides defensive bonus it also provides base defense. If you destroy all the troops but not the wall you will still lose some troops

Does one one know exactly how troop loss is calculated? For example, if I send 50 lancers and 50 sentries to a barb city with 10 lancers and (let's assume, wall level 2). I won but lost 5 lancers and 5 sentries. How are the loss calculated based on his defensive units?
