Yea I can see why you and your guild did what it did, MechaStorm.
Although I still very much prefer my way, as I think it's more stable and also pushes every member in the guild to grow.
In the end, your location and surrounding environment may have more influence on your expansion style above all else.

How about City construction? What build path do you guys use?
There's a really good, must-see tutorial we have here: http://www.youtube.com/watch?feature=endscreen&v=fTEzWYXJkbs&NR=1

I'm interested to see if you guys completely agree, or deviate at all from what was said^

For me, I personally have particular ways I like to build, depending on the situation:

Upon joining a new world - I will focus on resource buildings (clay, clay, clay and some lumber). I don't worry too much about the City Hall (and barely the farm/warehouses) because I feel confident the Beginner's Protection provides ample time for construction. Then again, this method assumes you can pretty much stay on top of Valor 24/7 (which I try to, when it's a new world), and not waste any game time.

Upon conquering a Barb city - depending on the location, of course, but most likely I will immediately try and max out the warehouses, and the ONE resource building that my other cities are deficient in and can't afford to send as much (I find my established cities tend to be strong in 2 out of 3 resources. Plus, I feel having to send all 3 resources is too much work and inefficient. For me, it's receive 2, and level up the other 1 on its own).

so also it depends on what our battle style is. you will always have some preference on one way than the other. the only important thing is that it works and your guild wins lol

but for me on w63 #1 ;) we began by mass attacking one region at a time. first we cleared out r22 then began spreading out like a plague. this worked very effecively because we each targeted someone right next to each other regardless of points. because for us it doesnt matter who gets the most points since we act together. whe we first began killing the enemy base in r20 i was alone in a sea of red but we made a takeover op together and we cleared out that area well

That works if you're surrounded by blue and green.

I agree Mecha, but in the case of my guild (#2 guild on W85) we're relatively scattered over 4 different sectors. We've developed "squads" for each sector for easy communication, but my nearest guildmate is still a good 4-5 hour scholar walk from me, and I started surrounded by players who ended up barbing out early, so it was easy for me to grab tons of land in the immediate area early on. I found that doing this set me up for a much stronger expansion in the later game as it made resource shuffling and supporting cities under siege to be a whole lot easier.

for me i think that huge clusters of one person takes the appearance away. i think that if you have a super cluster that many of your guild should have cities not just one person. cuz if its only one person then its easy to make a war plan on him/her. if there are many of your guild members then the enemy will think twice about thinking such a power region. thats my view on city cluster :)

I'm with you Kur0r0. There's definitely a psychological impact on the enemy when your cities cover an entire screen.
