Against barbs, the rams are pointless, and the ballistas just cause damage to the city - bad if you want to take it over.
Against other players, especially with high walls, the ballistas and rams are invaluable.

EDIT: seriously, ba.lls is removed by filter?

But what if they have 100 cities, half of which are being attacked, will they notice a missing rally point of a city that doesn't show incoming?

Post by HYBRID » Mon Dec 26, 2011 6:40 pm

Attacking a rally point with belista is almost useless it take about 48 seconds to rebuild. I did it on a city I conquered and

I like to attack with 1000 knights 3750 guards and 500 rams it knocks down the wall pretty good and I lose less troops that or 18000 zerks and 500 rams

I use both. Rams to knock down walls and with ballistas I usually target their warehouse (less resources mean less rebuilding), farm (less troops they can maintain), or rally point (can't retaliate without one of these)

I think its useful to have both. That way you can target the wall and another building slowing down thier abilitie to come back from there losses

Each individual troop type has its benifits.
Ram's and ballistas present their own unique attributes that can be either positive, or negative depending on the way that they are used.

Yes, if you send a single attack wave including rams or ballistas, it can slow down your attack, but not doing so can increase the defence that you have to over come.
Its really up to the player and style in which they want to play.

They're also a good way to mask a fake attack to look like a scholar attack since they take a long time to travel, much like a scholar. For those unfamiliar with fakes, fake attacks are useful when attacking a large guild and you're trying to take over one member, but don't want the other teammates to support them. teammates are less likely to support if they think their own cities are at risk.

And further, though the question is more about Rams than Balistas, I can vouch for how useful those are when you conquer a city of an active player and they just won't stop attacking you with their remaining too-weak-to-conquer cities.

In a war against an active player, I might use Rams to knock down a Wall. The bonus applied to defensive troops is killer. So I make make a city with siege troops for every 10 other cities. Additionally, Rams can be used as fakes to look like Scholars.
