The idea of the pit is just for glory so why wouldn't people 48 hrs+ be fighting against each other? Its not like people are going to engage in the pit to try and win a guild war because it is just 1v1 so what other reason than glory or to say they are better than the person they are fighting. And using it as chaos wouldn't be cowardly it would be strategic. Lets say you take a new city and then instantly engage in a pit fight with one of your allies so that you have time to build up troops and your defense without the worry of invasion. This is why it will become the new chaos for worlds 73 and higher.

In the really old worlds there are no special things like instant spy or truce. There are speed ups, resource buying, Aurora's blessing, 5 queue but nothing more impressive like loot thirst or whatever. So the large people in older worlds would just have strategy. And what about denying a "pit" battle? Does the person denying get branded a coward or what?

2nd question, who has 48 hour guild wars? It takes months to wipe alliances off the map, if you can win a war in 48 hours then your the man. To answer the question, if a few people want to ride it out hiding away with something like that, fine. I know on my world we would just laugh and gut everyone else arround you, ready with fork and knife to mumch down on your cities because your buddies that you ran and hid from got rolled over and you have no support.

First question, any attacks that will take longer than the pit time would be prompted with something like "attacks will not reach the target in the time alloted" and would not be allowed. Furthermore its highly unlikely that individuals that are 48 hours from each other would even consider dueling, question is moot.

What if you are further than a 48 hr walk on someone and your attacks dont get there before the pit time is over then what happens? Also you could just have someone leave your guild and start a pit fight while you are in a war to give u 48 hrs of protection just like chaosing a city and then proceed to do nothing while your guild build up guards for 2 days and then once the pit is over which they can chose at anytime by surrendering they can flood u with thousands of guardians protecting your city from what was once a planned attack by an opposing guild. Any thoughts on how to prevent this datapimp?

If adding in this consideration of large scale guild wars, i would suggest a 24-48 hour cool down where nobody is allowed to attack or support either player coming out of "the pit". Otherwise less scrupulous players would be poised and ready to attack either one leaving "the pit" status. Since dueling in "the pit" would be strictly voluntary, any player choosing to do so would do so knowing the consequences.

Players would be allowed to challenge each other to a duel, in which of course another leadership board score could be derived. It’s my believe this would keep the older worlds more exciting and also increase profit potentials because players would be more inept to purchase bonsuses from the “store” to increase their odds and give them an edge on wining a “Pit” duel.
1. Each players can “challenge” another player to jump into the pit and duke it out.
2. You can only try to challenge 1 player at a time, if the challenged player doesn’t accept within 48 hours the challenger is allowed to then find another player to challenge
3. The “pit” doesn’t not start until the player challenged accepts, in order to be fare a pop up must be presented to them that won’t go way until thy accept or deny the challenge. This way they cannot get resources sent to them from other players to give them an advantage.
4. When both players are engaged in the “Pit”, neither of them can receive resources or unit support from any other players.
5. The winner is determined on who captures the most amount of the other players cities or one of them hits a surrender button.

It's funny, I was just thinking about a system like this earlier today. Basically allowing players to push eachother competitively. I haven't thought through how it would impact things like broader guild warfare, but I do think it's interesting to consider.
