Unless the communications speed improve dramatically. Zooming out wont be feasible or tolerable.
If you use a large Android device you can see larger proportion of the map, then any zooming in is dependant on the client and would not impact data traffic.
iOS devices can do this already to some extent with the build in accessibility features.

i suggested that during the beta but heard nothing about it

Sugfested multiple times because it is a good idea

I would love the ability to zoom in and out on the map. I play on my iPhone. would love to zoom out to see my whole region. would also love to zoom out to see all the regions and how they make up the map. seems like a simple feature to add. would make playing the game so much more fun and also so much easier...
