I think it's a good idea. I've seen this feature in other games, or at least some sort of vacation mode where you can't be attacked. There would need to be some sort of abuse prevention though. Maybe the system forces you to choose dates which you will be away and only between that time will your cities be safe/transferred. It would limit you to a maximum of, say, 3 weeks at a time followed by a 3 week period during which you could not reactivate it. Also, you would be limited to maybe 6 or so weeks per year.

Put support in your own cities. You withstand the attacks. Then, with tripwires in your cities, your guild can send in support in time

I'm not really understand why some of you wouldn't take the city into one account. So if someone can explain this maybe I'd understand why this idea doesn't appeal to you.
I understand it takes more scholarships and more scholars but when a player quits their cities are often distrubuted around the guild cutting the amount of scholarships greatly. I can understand people being greedy and wanting more however a greedy person wouldn't want another name on "their" cities, wouldn't want to switch accounts just to mantain all of them and wouldn't want restrictions. Sure, you can set up tripwires but doesn't that make it more complicated for both you and your guild?
So if there is some other reason out there that makes this unappealing let me know because I still don't understand it.

Tripwires are meaningless if I take the city with all my attacks landing in a 30 sec window as I often do.

An active and understanding guild. Tripwires are set up. Support is sent. And the city is still there. Resources donated. And the player is caught up again

Instead of dismissing the idea you can work on it.
So lag an wasting time isn't enough. How about making it so the two players (account sitter and player being account sat) can't support one another or trade resources for up to 24 hours after the account sitting is dismissed.
I'm not looking to put in some unreasonable aspect of the game. There are times when people have to just up and leave or something happens where they need hospitalization or they just go on vacation for a week. One guy in my tribe is being sent off to help in the aftermath of hurricane Issac.
I think it is fair to let someone watch over your account while you away.

Recently in my guild we had 2 players who said they can't play anymore and gave up their cities for us to claim.

If this option was on, they could just give their account to somebody else and then leave for good. That's not very fair.

I think that this would be a great way to kill some time if you were waiting for your city to be built or something like that

In fact that makes more sense to have someone account sit it. Let the player leave, put up a claims list in the guild, move troops out and get the cities into the guild. If you're leaving would you want to deal with this? No, you'd want to leave.

So instead of absorbing the cities you think someone wants to bounce around two accounts? I mean....I guess if you want to waste your own time that makes perfect sense.
