Nah, not really giving yhe gameplay a boost. it's not that hard to remember when you start to play and if you really like to remember then you would write it down or something.

Just like Mr. o said, when you have barracks, open them and click the question mark. You will get an units overview which will answer all your questions.
or go to Help > Units > Units Overview

I could be wrong, probably am, but those citys get like 150 resources each a hour, right? So only the first wave you would get those 3600 it would take the city 4 hours to get back at 600. Or do I see it wrong and just misunderstood your post?

Nice idea, I personally don't really look at the set-up of my city, but it would be a nice feature to have and make your city really 'yours'.
