By scouting, first however the defending player will also get notified your attacking and get a report showing you scouted him

On the world selection screen you should see a button that looks like a silhouette have a look in there

A successful guild is one that masters the time differences  you could go old school and make yourself a cardboad clock with 2 sets of times on it vt and local, set the hands to a specific vt time you need to remember and that will tell you the local time !

I like the idea of earning gold, this could be a way to introduce new quests. Aurora says I've done well an new quets will come soon but these never arrive ! Develop more quests and set the award as x amount of gold, also gold on fortune wheel, and another idea I've just thought of have a game timer...

That would be very useful ! Have it show as green be easier to find cities we have attacks going out also we could have returning troops shown possibly in blue

It does but at a slower rate it's far quicker to follow what I said above

By all means build your academy and then reduce the forge back down  that way i can send my ballistas in and destroy your academy, you will have to waste time and resources rebuilding your forge before rebuilding your academy

Unfortunately the game is about conquering you cannot prevent players attacking other players otherwise you take away the main element of the game
