Ive heard that scholars can die in transport is this true? Also if so how long can a scholar go before it dies.

Conquering cities and there Scholars
Okay so a player of my guild quite i scouted his city and bam 36 scholars. If i go to conquer his city will i get to keep the scholars or lose them?
