City reverting backwards

Today I captured my first city, and have spent much of my resources today upgrading it and recruiting troops, transferring resources from my primary city. Just a few mins ago, I received a batch of resourses to my new city and when it updated, my new city reverted back to its original state, all of my resources and new recruits disappeared, and my buildings re verted to their previous levels, even the name of the city changed back, I've spent a whole days resources on this, what's going on?
