Barbarian attack?

From what I've read on the forums, barbarians do not retaliate. Yet, 2 cities next to me, player owned cities, were conquered by barbarians.

I have 2 theories:

1). This is simply a bug with the map.

2). This is a bug where if a player has no, or few troops in their city, they are taken advantage of by barbarians, and conquered.


Experienced players, please give me insight.

If a player owned city turns barbarian it could be for one of three reasons.

1. That player was inactive for too long (about 30 days or so)
2. That player manually abandoned that world
3. The player restarted in that world

It would be nice if Barb cities can randomly attacks real players. And or barbs have their own guilds and attacks real players.

Portal /world/ info scroll to the bottom of page abandon or start over

You could of attacked a barb that was abandoned

A Guild mate just lost his city to barb he claims he didn't abandon world. And he has been active
