I was robbed for 25 gold I used it for an instant spy that lied to me when I went to attack the city it was stocked up on troops it couldnt have been support as it was a barb

There is an issue where sometimes barbarian cities have more troops than they should.

Be sure to contact the support team and they will be able to replace the gold that was spent on that instant spy.
