Barbs n Scholars

I'm still confused as to when a scholar is needed to conquer barbs going forward. Without a scholar when I attack a barb and clean out defenses it is basically like farming, but I want to take the city. My scouts don't show loyalty level. Any enlightening revelations on this??

Unless you are in Beta, nothing has changed.

Remark that in classical worlds no troop show loyalty in a city, player or barb one, except the scholars once they sucessfully hit ;-)

Correct. The lore gives sneak peeks into features that will be added in the big revamp. Until it is released (which will be soon), you still have to use scholars to conquer barb cities.

When I updated the program today it stated in the upgrade that we would be able to take over barbs without scholars

Yes! Conquerable barbs is one of the key new features in Trial by Sword. It completely changes the early game because the first few decisions you make in the world are crucial for how your strategy will develop. Experiment, and check out the Strategy forum to talk with other players about how they're approaching this scenario.
