Guild Chat is Coming!

Postby starhammer » Mon Apr 02, 2012 11:31 pm

Salutations,

Anyone who has spent a decent amount of time in these forums knows that Guild chat has been one of our most requested game features. And for good reason. You guys deserve better tools for coordinating with each other.

So I am happy to say -- GUILD CHAT IS COMING IN THE NEXT COUPLE WEEKS (as you can probably see from the updated UI). Let’s jump right in. I’ll give a breakdown of how the feature will work.

What can you do?

- You can chat in real-time with the members of your Guild
- You’ll be able to view which Guild members are online and which are active or have gone idle
- You can view recent chat history (20 lines)
- You are able to use BBCodes
- A Chat bar showing the last two Guild chat messages are viewable on every page and clicking that bar at any time will bring you to Guild Chat

What are we still considering/working on?

Because of the demand for this feature, we wanted to implement Guild chat as soon as possible. As a result, there are some limitations. It will evolve and more functionality will be added to it as time goes on. Some things we are looking into include:

- Private messaging
- Ban/Mute/Kick functionality
- Emoticons

You can expect Guild chat to be in the game in the next couple weeks. Dive in, give it a try and let us know what you think. Let us know how you’d like to see the feature evolve. Tell us what you like and also what you think is missing.

What’s Morrow’s take on all this? Here’s a look at his journal entries on the subject of Guild chat:

Why would you need to ban kick or mute someone from your own guild :p

I did think why there was no active communication for Valor. This should be a great boon

GREAT!! Please include history page of Guild activity also. Nice to know what other members do eg attacking, defending, leaving Guild, joining etc.
