Recall supporting troops?

I an sending a load of supporting troops to my city - but my city has now been captured. But my troops are still going to support this city that is no longer mine!

How do I recall my troops urgently?

You can't. As a matter of fact, if you don't specifically recall them, they will sit in your enemy's city defending it until you do recall them. How about that for stupid.

But if you can't recall them, we are buggered. Is this a bug? I'd sent 3 scholars too which I am going to lose?

Those support waves will still be support. They won't attack the city once they get there.

As stated above you will need to recall them from support once they arrive.

Or you can cancel outgoing movement within the first 15 minutes
