Why can't you cancel an attack after a certain amount of time????

Because your troop commanders don't have mobile phones

and because its pretty annoying when you are almost there and your leader calls you back

Also because it would be very easy to recall scholars after you have seen you were not able to clear a city

thats part of the strategy. you mak sure you have enough troops to clear the city and cap it. it makes the game a lot easier then.
