What happens to support troops on the way to a conquered city?

What happens to support troops on the way to support a city but are too late? The city is conquered (by me) and his friends' troops are coming to support. I don't think you can change from support to attack, so what happens to these guys? The become my supporting troops? That sounds so funny. Or do I have to fight them?

I dont actually know, i guess they will support the city even if its the enemy. The same happens but v.v if you send attack to a city but a teammember conquered it before, so you will fight your own team with that attack?

They were sent as support to that location and they'll come as supportnfor that location. You won't be able to do anything with them but dend them back to their owners.

Confirmed. It's silly you can't help your friend to take back the city, but I guess it's a limitation to the game design. I now have my enemy's troops as my guests...

since they are your guests and for your support, can't you send them out to attack that very same enemy? That would be cool
