Map location

Are players placed on the map randomly or are new players always placed together. Is the map separated by regions or countries so your able to orient yourself while scrolling around the map?

You are allowed to select an approximate region when you enter a world which will put you in to a general region of the map. New players are not separated by older players but you cannot enter an older world once newer ones are established.

This prevents new players from entering a world and being positioned right next to another player who has 10 cities etc...

Ok that makes sense. So that's why everyone around me still has beginners protection and most arnt named yet.

Is that a new fix? Because I didnt have that option in 39. Furthermore, my side kick and I selected to enter w39 at the same time and we are no more than 20min in same region. So I dont think that is fully the case.
