Attack wave following a scholar capture?

Attack wave following a scholar capture?

Let's say I have an attacking army following 1 minute behind a scholar that will take a city once he arrives. Does this following wave then become support and stay in the newly captured city or do they return to their origin?

No they will continue on and attack before returning home
