So the answer is, there is no way to earn gold for free, pretty lame, except for the owners of the game

Best way to get resources is to farm another city.

Sorry Doctor, we can't give away gold. But if you don't want to purchase gold you can still enjoy Valor as a free game :)

Well they have to pay for the game somehow, basically the more you spend the easier it is to win right

In world 23 I have about 80k in points, at one point in time I had more than over half my guild, now I'm somewhere towards the bottom, and still the most active.
Ps.. A city can't get maxed out overnight for free.

But you still have the wait time for the construction of the building. You could use the gold to buy the resources, it is usually cheaper.
