I just took over my first city. I sent support to that new city. How long does the support last? How do I know the support is there? How can I bring them back when they're done? Can I still direct them when they're in support mode?

When support has arrived you will get a message and they are there until you pull them back. you can manage them in rally point -> troops -> My support abroad. you can only make them go back to the city you sent them from.
