Which guild to join?

Hi I'm new to the game. I've done ok developing my city so far and received a number of guild invites. I'm uncertain however as to which one to join... Can someone outline for the new players some points to consider when picking a guild? Also, what's with all the LM and UN stuff in front of the names? Why do so many have the exact same names? Thanks for your help!

to join a guild, you can consider their guild rank..see if there are many players with high points..
you will not know wether they are active or not unless you join them and participate on the forum with them.
and like LM or UN..they call it Family guild,Sister guild, or else.. its like a coalition between the same guild name,
this can also be your part of consideration, wether the guild's coalitions are big or not, strong or not.
