As I was conquering a city the other day I was waiting patiently for my last attack to go through when 15minutes early the report comes through saying I conquered the village. I thought something was wrng because no extra village had shown up in my list but when I checked reports I saw that is was because the report had come through 16minutes early.
Why is this happening?

When you capture a city it becomes yours but it takes a little bit of time for the server to repoll that data.
It takes a few minutes for the server to update the city ownership and then for your game client to register that update.
This is a problem inherent in using a server based game rather than a client side only game. It's pretty much unavoidable, but it will be automatically updated after a short period of time.
Just be patient and keep playing.

What's a client side based game

A client side and is a game that only takes place on your handset. Any games that are single player games are client side based.
Any game that requires an Internet connection and has more than 1 player is server based.
