I get what he's saying. For some people the emoji icons work but I just can't seem to get my icons to work.

Emojis App is $0.99 on app store.
After purchasing and downloading, you have to follow instructions in the app to activate the keyboard.
It should direct you to settings, language, keyboards.
When you're in valor, and about to post a new message or such, press on the symbol for 2nd keyboard, and there you are.
If you want to switch back, just press the symbol again.

Except it's not supported for valor on ios5

"the ghost" is correct. Emoji on ios5 will only work through text messages to others who also have emoji.

Now that i know what emoji is (i dont normally use emoticons) i can tell you that the way emoji works is by inputting a string like (345s[q) to translate to ;)

This happens on the actual handset that you are using, not on the game client itself.
This is because emoji is a 3rd party application and is not part of the iOS software itself.

You can get it to work on Valor, but it will only ever work with others who have emoji.
Even if we wanted to implement it within Valor itself, we would have to force everyone download another piece of software, that PlayMesh has no control over.

Though, i will say, i just checked on the price of emoji and it appear to be free. Not sure if that's a limited time affair, but i thought i would say.

Portal > ? (Question Mark - Upper right of the screen) > Support > Mail Icon

there are a few free emoji apps in the appstore. don't pay for whats free!

Yup, I have that. The thing is, on iOS 5.0.1, there is a problem with emojis. But I think it doesn't matter much. It's a great game.
