Does the number of scholar reduce once it's used to attack a city? For example, if I have 4 scholars and use 1 to attack the city and won, dose my academy still register 4 scholars or does it reduce to 3?

I sent two scholars to one city to attack the city and they were both absorbed by the city. Why? My academy says I can train a new scholar, but I'll be out 50k of all my resources.

That means one of your scholars died :D

The attack message said neither of them died. The second wave hit about 30 min after I claimed the city.

Is there any way to get my scholar back, or at least the 50k of each material it took to train it?

No. Both scholars conquered the same city.

If both your scholars were sent in a single wave (btw never do that, as they're loyalty drop will only count for one scholar) then both will be absorbed into the conquered city. If the scholars were sent in 2 consecutive waves, but the first scholar dropped the loyalty to 0 and conquered the city while the second scholar is still en route, then the second scholar's attack will also hit the city (which is now your city) most likely dropping the loyalty from the defaulted 25 back to 0 and effectively conquering your own city (i.e. loss of two scholars).

Both of these instances will cause one scholar to be effectively used up and the other counting as a loss or wasted scholar, so you will be left with one open space to educate another scholar for 50,000 of each resource.

Thanks bananabanana, that explained it for me. It sucks, but I'll just train a new scholar and make sure I don't do that again.

It's happened to me plenty of times, in fact defending players will set up their cities so that it happens on purpose to your scholars...sucks, but we work with what we got.
