Kill score

What is a kill score and how do you get them. I see them as a quest but cannot seem to figure out what it is.

You attack or defend. you have attacking kill score for troops you kill when attacking and defense kill score for troops you kill when defending you city.

How is it calculated like how many population u kill or just how many troops u kill cause I killed a bunch of troops when someone attacked me for the first time and all of a sudden I have KSD over 50000 ???
