Go for a city with around 2k less points than you, so like 8k. These are great first cities, especially if hey are barbarians. Dont bother walking 5-7 hours to conquer one, just use one scholar and take out i city within 2 hours walking distance. Should take about 5 attacks. good luck guys

I like to cluster my cities together allowing a nice flow of resources the first city I take tends to be within 4 squares of my original city preferably larger than my current city but I'll take the largest possible in that area, I then work from that trying to keep within 4 squares of my original, once I have 5 cities I'll look further afield and start up another cluster maybe 10-15 squares out from my original and so on

this are definitions of a cities growth. The higher the cities points, it also upgrades on the map to reflect your progress. The largest is fortress which you only get after 40,000 points.
