What's your take on the ideal first city to target once your scholars are ready? Do you go for the closest empty small village or do you look for a city above a certain level? Since you are already around or above 10,000 by that time, what level should an ideal target be and how far would you look? A target of 5000 with 4 hours walk time or a target of 8000 with a walking distance of 7 hours? Please share your opinions.

I would wait, make more troops & scholars until the cities close to me grows a little bit more ( even very much) :)

Nice Poll! Great question... taking those juicy barbs is a great low-risk way to go... but you'd miss out on the excitement of conquering another player ;)

The closest barb over 10k build that up and then go for a bigger or farther city.

I conquered an abandoned player city of about 4000 first. A few days later I took aa 18,000 point city and then a 15,000 point city. After, I was wishing I had p***ed on the small guy and gone straight for the big guys. The first city I took is still putting around below 10,000 just barely supporting itself, while the others are actually producing resources and troops for my future conquests.
