Well basically I'm a little confused as to why my wood runs out so quickly and I actually have my wood at a higher level than anything else(5) and yes it's small but still I still have about 600 more stone or whatever than wood

Wood is paramount to the other 2 resources(res) & used in higher quantities esp @ lower levels.

Later on you'll be running out of stone, and be swimming in wood and iron.

Yup, right now, I've got: Max Population, [color="#FF0000"]500,000[/color] wood, 2,000 clay, and [color="#FF0000"]500,000[/color] iron, from buying so many scholarships.

Ouch. I've not gotten that far out of whack (it helps taking cities and constantly shipping them iron and wood while building max quarries). But yeah, wood and iron grow while clay depletes quickly in the later game.

use you market to balance out supply and demand this is why they are important further in the game.
