So I always here about specializing cities, but I'm confused. Like in your attack cities wouldn't you want to put defense units in there too? And I'm in a research 3 world and I did not know you you only got ten points per city and this is is my first city, so my idea for the rest of my points would be lance sent and zerks at two and get my guardians up to three. Any thoughts?

Generally all of your cities won't be attacked all at once. You have time to move defensive units around to protect cities that are being attacked.

Having a large attack force is nice as it makes conquering a city easier. If you have a mix then your attacking army is smaller.

How do you know if you are being attacked though?

You get a little red number on your Portal tab.

I also don't plan on getting attacked, as I plan on attacking everyone around me first. :D

Basicly you send support from your defence cities from behind the lines to your front lines cities which are your attacking cities :)

Look at the map.

If this is your first city then likely you are too small to be noticed by anyone. Sorry, but the truth can hurt (as well as protect you!). It is unlikely that anyone is going to waste their time attacking a 10k city unless you've been attacking them. As well you should join a guild. Once in a guild no one should touch you unless there is a guild war.

So pretty much, unless you have threats all around you (ie, you're not in a guild and there is a guild all around you) then you can likely get away with not having an army and just focusing on buildings. Once you start growing and have 3-4 cities, especially those over 20k in power, you will start attracting the attentions of expansion minded players. You'll want an army then.

But again, just join a guild. The game becomes about a thousand times easier in a guild. Until your guild goes to war that is... But that is also when it gets fun. :D
