Do walls kill scholars?

Do walls kill scholars?

All in the title really. If I attack a city with a wall could it kill my scholar?

Apparently, if more than half of your other troops die, your scholar could (does?) die. so as long as you send twice as many other troops as the wall can kill my understanding is that it won't.

As keep in mind without a wall, the city has a hidden basic defense value, and troops can still be killed.

How do I determine the strength of an opponents wall? What is strategy to overcome the wall?

If there's no troops in the city I usually send 500 sens and 500 lancers with my scholar never has fail yet. But if I'm clearing and I think they may have called in support I send all the troops I have with it
