Yes I agree to Justintyme when we start a new game we should have some gold for free

There have been incentives, including gold for parti****tion both on these forums and within the community in general.
There may be future incentives that PlayMesh may or may not choose to provide.

At current however, there is no gold reward for reaching a specific milestone within the game world. Just remember to claim your daily amulet, and keep completing those quests.

That having been said, the gold purchased in game do have a lot of uses and while i cant do anything about the price, i would say that the gold you buy can be very handy in a difficult spot.
