Speed issues

Are there any plans to drastically increase the speed of this game? It is getting tiresome upgrading a building and then having to wait 5 or 6 seconds for it to register.

This doesn't happen all the time, but frequently enough to be very frustrating.

Can the app not be updated as well so that all updates to a player's cities and worlds are downloaded in the background at the same time as you open the app?

This would save moving to a new city, spending 10 seconds waiting for it to update?

I love the game and I've spent a lot of money on gold, but these lag issues are making me think I should stop playing - very frustrating.

(I'm on high speed broadband, iPhone 4s etc etc).
