Seriously, though. Isn't it taking up a lot of valuable Playmesh resources keeping all of these worlds active?
Once a world gets to a point, maybe the first person reaches 250 cities, or 5 million points, or people quit spending gold because, really, what's the point, a countdown begins. Maybe barbarian cities start sending waves of attacks for variety or not, but at the end of the count down the world "ends"
But, how would we do that?
I suggest you make a great ending scene for people who had over 2.5 million when the world ends. Maybe with dude standing in front of a Cheering multitude with the Aurora standing next to him placing a crown on his head. Captions say your kingdom will endure throughout all time.
But them what? Well, you should keep the "world" available to them, but it would only give the ending again. But also give the people who got the ending something fit their next world. Not huge, but something to show their time invested. They spent a lot of time to get the good ending and shouldn't have to start completely from scratch.

It makes it so much more fun in my opnnion when you have huge players fighting it out. and 2.5 million isnt that hard to get to. i know some players who have 10 million or so points already. it takes a lot more skill to defend your whole empire when you have tons of cities. you need to be smart to survive it. So I think that the world should end only when there is one player left who controls the entire world
