Moving scollars not troops

Postby Pauld2468 » Fri Aug 03, 2012 10:01 pm

We've talked about stationing troops which is a somewhat of a bad idea.

How about just being able to move scollars around to and from the cities we want them in.

For me i have 2 scollars in one city 1 in another and 3 in yet another. Since we can buy scollarships in differnt cities why not move all of our scollars to the city we choose.

i think it should be the one unit that works like a queen in chess. Have them move and station them anywhere we want them

This is why I always keep my scholars together. Extras are killed off. So simple planning will avoid the problem. But if something happens and plans aren't right, this would help in the beginning but not later when you get 10+ cities because then it is easy to just shuffle resources and viola! new scholar since 50k a resource isn't that much when you get more than a handful of cities

Yea i see your point fire820 but plans do change from time to time so having scoolars in a cities thats scattered across the world is sometimes inpractical.

atm i have 14 cities total and while im trying to establish a new stronghold in another region thats 15 hours by scollar from my home base of the other 12 citiies.

Once i get a scollar. Its easy to shuffle resourses around to build scollars at my home base then i could ship them off while im sleeping or at work to my other city 15 hours away then do the same once im able to aquire another the next day or so and so on.

Scollars are the last troops to enter into a city once its cleared of troops anyways so this tactic wouldnt change much in way of attacks. But would encourage better game play i think

Having just scollars closer to enemy teritorry prevents

A: loyalty going back up and
B: having them build up more troops or calling in supporting troops while i wait for my slow a$$ scollars to get there.

I see your point.

A-prevented by using a scholar train of five.

B-just really sucks. Timing your clearing waves just right is a hassle. But it can be done. Or get people in your guild to help.

But this idea is nice and would not change any aspect of game play

It would change a lot... Think abt it; you cap a barb in "enemy" territory, minimum casualties, and you could at a instant start sending out scholars? It would change a lot. If its for the better or worse I cant say but it would be different.

Unprotected scholars that will die. It takes time and resources to train the troops that will escort.

Yes but not as much time as you think: You keep clearing the city from your stronghold, you relocate the scholar in the newly required city, then send it w 100 guards/less than 500 berserks. It'll survive to conq ur enemy. Just saying it would make a difference. Also with the market you'd have resources heading to the barb city so resources wouldn't be such a problem either.

Time is still a factor. I just did it by capping an inactive and training 4 scholars immediately. Took about a day to train enough troops to make a decent escort. The only way you can do it quicker is to leave the city defenseless for a period of time. Possible on chaos worlds, but not particularly easy after W75. You might get away with it once or twice until a smart opponent figures it out and caps you the minute you come into the neighborhood.

Ok how about this then. After aquiring a new city.

Have the loyalty start at 40/100 or 50/100 so your enemy needs at least two scollars to cap. This would also eliminate the hassle of your guild or allies recapping the same city that you just aquired due to miss comunications. It does happen. Especially on barb cities.

Yeah. They'll die. Be captured. So it wouldn't change a whole lot because it still takes time like it normally would. Maybe make the moving scholars take time to get to the city?
