Thinks I have more scholars

I have 3 scholars between all of my cities( i checked in the rally point and made sure i didnt capture a city that had a scholar) and my academy says i have 4 scholars. So basically i have to buy more scholarships then i should. I think this has something to do with an ally sending me scholars as support so they didnt get killed, but i have send those scholars back.
