The tournoment

Postby loofee » Mon Jan 14, 2013 3:50 pm

I think it's a great idea first of all to have a tournament, and it will be nice to see who is the best. However I think it's a little dumb it's basically always whoever is willing to use the most gold will be #1. I don't think it's fair to the rest of us that don't use gold to not really have a chance to get into the tournament. I think maybe you should make a entry for everyone, just a chance for me basically!

I thought top 5 or 6 people were getting in.. and if you want in either get #1 or you can play in the furure guild winner war.

Well no, invitation goes to #1 player, then if he doesn't except in 24 hrs #2 gets it, 10 hrs later #3 and keeps going at a 10 hr stretch

Here's the way the tournament round flow works: The above information is correct initially. After the 1st qualifier, however, each player who accept the tournament invite and moves on to the Quarterfinal round is no longer eligible for future invitations. Additionally, players who accept invitations but do not show up for checkin are barred from the next qualifier round, giving the next on the list a guaranteed chance to play. Potentially this list could go as far down as the top 20th player.

Our data also shows that there are quite a few players in both old worlds and new conquerable barb worlds in the Q1 tournament round that have not purchased any gold. In other words, there are plenty of top players who do not just buy their way to the top. Worlds tend to start out with players who spend tons of gold quickly rising to the top spot, but they often get beaten out by players/guilds who have better guild coordination and experience in the long run. My guess is that there will be a decent handful of heavy monetizers in the Qualifier rounds, but they will quickly get eliminated by the players with more play experience, particularly with speed world play experience (of which, most of our experienced speed world players, also do not spend much on gold).

Remember, there is no gold usage in tournaments, so who we come out with at the end of this tournament season will have definitely proven a top level of skill vs heavy monetization.

Perhaps a ksa/ksd competition should be given as I find that to be a big mark of a players skill as well. Plus ksd could mean lost cities and therefor not in the top 5 or so. Ksa, well no one REALLY wants 1000 cities maybe they just cleared.

I agree with the Ksa benchmark! Very important in my eyes. Also, thank you BananaBandana for the clarification. Guys please realize that not only is this tournament a great step in the valor community but also a stepping stone of uumited possibilitys. It seems that pwnlaw plans to have his staff working very hard on the MCM but after that I expect to see more cross world competitions, so rise to the top and lets have some fun!

You're welcome, Krumbz613!

The Tuzzle and I have our work cut out for us with McM but it's looking pretty exciting. Competitions will eventually make their comeback to worlds as well. We know they created a buzz on their first couple releases and don't expect to leave them on the wayside in light of all these other recently-released, competitive features.
