it's not "illegal" it's simply an oversight in original design that people have learned to exploit. no legalities to it.
and for the guy that thinks this fix is going to help said players - these players are still going to have to purchase scholarships to equal the amount of cities they own before being able to produce more scholars. having 12 scholars, 216 cities, and negative 228 scholars means the twelve scholars disappear and they will have to purchase scholarships in an equivalence to 217 scholars before they can educate one. it's going to cripple these players for awhile. so a retroactive fix will show you exactly who has been manipulating the system because they will stop growing for a period of time.
Very disappointed!!!

Yeah, I didn't think about the cities they would already own. That would be pretty funny.
Ding ding - winner!

Your scholarships will be negative, so you cannot train more tho. So it can help or hurt you depending on how you play. Personally I feel it helps me a lot when you only have a few cities, but hurts when you have more then 10.
Thank you GreyHigh. I think I understand now.

I realize they can't do it any other way... But this is still not a big enough disadvantage... He now has 200 cities to farm and buy scholarships, and attack people to keep them weak... It is far easier buying scholarships retroactively than the 'legal' way...
But I too am tired of this thread... As I am for anyone who can't understand that simple concept...

the world is not perfect, and it's better that there is a solution. whether it is more difficult or not to purchase scholarships. but I believe that time period to be what we like to call an "opportunity". I believe the solution is much better than the alternative, being nothing. I'd much rather see the solution applied and watch them purchase retroactively than the problem not addressed at all.

How is having negativ scholars cheating, when it is specified in the strategy-guides??
http://valorgame.com/wiki/strategy/strategy-guides/how-2-scholar-by-bananabandana/
In my opinon this is not a glitch that needs fixing. It is a feature of the game, giving a special form of teamwork inside a guild. And some players have found a way to use it. Go think about it and do it yourself.

Rather than just stating its fine because its in a strategy guide, you might consider elaborating on why its there:
"As you can see in the example above, the 2 scholars you gained from conquering the city caused you to exceed your current scholar limit of 5. In order to produce more scholars, you must first purchase the adequate amount scholarships to catch your scholar limit up to your surplus of scholars."
No where in that guide does it say "Feel free to find barely active players who are willing to be pansies for you and supply you with strategically placed, unlimited scholars". Nor does it say use 2-infinity second accounts to do it either.

That's right, but it is not forbidden either. AND I think that if they got their great amount of scholars looking for barley active players that is game play, isn't that the goal of the game - gaining cities of other players? With or without Scholars in them. So technically it is legal and it works otherwise this tread would not exist.
To say the only alternative way is by second accounts, is in MHO simply wrong. Think of a way of teamwork inside a guild, that by the way would be a strategic decision for a fast grow of your guild starting a world.
But yes using second accounts is a possibility. Is using second accounts cheating? Can’t remember reading something like that, please show me where that is set as rules of the game, because I haven’t read everything yet and most probably never will.
So as a suggestion for to many negative Scholars, why not set a limit of how many negative Scholars one player could get. So if you get by conquering a city over the limit, you get only so many Scholars as to fill that limit and the others DIE. Problem solved, as long as you find a reasonable limit for the negative Scholars a player can have.

There already is a reasonable limit - that which your scholarships can support. If Playmesh/Quark had wanted you to have unlimited scholars, they wouldn't have put in place the escalating scholarship costs.
That being said, this conversation is basically moot. PwnLaw has already said its going away, just a matter of time. I, for one, will be happy when it does.
