Is there anyway to change my towns name without buying gold?

yes, all you have to do is go to your city hall, scroll all the way down and just type in the new name and select change, and that will do it

It still won't let me do it. It wants more gold.

i believe you can only change the name of the city only once, unless someone conquers it and then you get it back again
