Demolishing buildings

Could someone tell me what the benefit of demolishing buildings is, and do I get resources back also how do u take materials out of it hiding place if u need them

K, first question: demolishing buildings allows you to have more room in your population once you decided to build a m***ive army. The more you demolish, the more room you get. And no, you do not get resources back from demolishing.
Personally, i think the hiding place is useless. All it does is it hides a certain amount of resources from those that are attacking you.

Just keep in mind there are requirements for building so for example if you loose your academy you will have to meet those requirements again before you can rebuild.

When you demolish a lvl you will receive a few troops. Figured that out recently when I started demolishing it so I'd have more room for guardians, just to see some serks and lancers randomly.

Does anyone know how long does it take to demolish? I'm just curious as to if a player can demolish his own city if he sees no way out to save it from enemy scholars.

It all depends on how high a level a building is, the higher level building the longer it takes to demolish. And no, it is not possible to demolish a city to save it from enemy scholars.

Yes, a player can demolish his entire city hall, all his resource and unit production, and his entire warehouse before the city is captured. That way, the player capturing your city just loses a lot of troops, and gets a city not much better than a barb.

With a level 30 resource producing building taking 8.5 hours just to demolish 1 level, how would you propose to demolish all the buildings before someone takes over. You typically won't do better than taking 1 level off a single building, ... if that. Lower level buildings like 25,24, etc. aren't that much faster to demolish either.
