troops in production?

When you click the farm and see the population column there is a number called troops in production . Can you employ troops for production or what? what does this number
indicate?

When you select a number of troops to be recruited, the population space is allocated the instant that you click "Recruit". It prevents you from accidentally exceeding your population cap.

This line in the farm indicates that the barracks (or wherever) are currently reserving some of your farm space or population cap. Just because they dont exist yet, doesnt mean the space isnt being used.
