Barbarian Farming analysis: Fail

Postby Walkerboh » Fri Feb 17, 2012 9:00 pm

So I thought I would actually check to see if an attack on a barb city was worth while and here is what I found:

I sent about 100 lancers and 85 sentries. They had a haul capacity of 2910. I lost 12 lancers and 10 sentries. The total cost to replace all 22 units was 1020 wood, 860 clay, and 1040 iron. I brought back 970 of each (2910) and spent 2920 to replace my units... Fail. Do I need to take out the walls to make farming worth my time?

You have to use knights as the attacking force. They carry more and are a stronger per unit force. Leave the infantry as scouts or support.

If you take the walls down then yes, you will lose less troops when you attack. You should also send more troops so that you can haul more. As has been suggested, knights carry a lot. Sentries carry the most, however, but are slower and pretty useless otherwise. If you send more troops then you will haul more resources back, which will make the trip productive.
