Does a scout tell you about the enemy?

Postby Rajang » Mon Feb 27, 2012 4:00 pm

So Im pretty new at this game and i was wondering if sending scouts to a city would give you information on their troops/defences like an instant spy would? Im trying not to spend any coins, im only 5 away from changing my name back to the one i originally wanted.
Thanks, Raj

A spy's report depends on his level.

@cedcool14: Not necessarily so. The instant spy report tell tell you almost everything about the enemy target (structure build/level status, troop populations, resources) but a scout's report is dependent upon:

  • What level the scout is (which is dependent upon what kind of world you are playing in); and
  • How many scouts survive to report back to you.

For example:

  • In a single-level research world (e.g., 39 and 43):
    • Because there is only one level of research, that one level is considered the maximum, so the results of the report are now only dependent upon what percentage of scouts return alive (see explanation below).

  • In a multi-level research world (e.g., 40):
    • Level-1 research tells you all troops in the city.
    • Level-2 research tells you the building info (in addition to Level 1).
    • Level-3 research tells you the troops out of the city (in addition to Level 1 and Level 2).
    • The result of the report is also influenced on what percentage of scouts return alive (see explanation below).

  • In all worlds, if the amount of scouts that return alive are:
    • equal to or greater than 50% of what was deployed, then they will know the city's resource levels.
    • equal to or greater than 75% of what was deployed, then they will know the structures' building levels (in addition to the resource levels)
    • equal to or greater than 90% of what was deployed, then they will know the city's total troop information (in addition to structure and resource levels).

So if you send one scout and that one scout returns, then 100% returned and you know the most. If you send three scouts and only one returns, then only 33% returned (less than 50%) and you know nothing.

Hope this helps,

@cedcool14: Perhaps so, but that wasn't apparent from your response of "Its the same as instant spy but not instant" -- because it's not guaranteed to be. :P
