Non of you troops returned

I sent 300 lancers on a raid to an empty city and non of them returned. What happened to them? They didn't stop for a picknic and I don't think desertion is a factor. What happened, attacked by a glitch? I am at war and need my troops :$

Did you check the battle report to see if our troops died in combat with the other city?
Because war is war, and war never changes.
